All-Ukrainian holiday, which is celebrated on the first Sunday of September, is dedicated primarily to the popularization of a variety of clothes of the past, which was widely used in the territory of modern Ukraine.

The holiday was launched by the Centre for Research and Revival of Volyn in 2017 with a large-scale event in the city of Rivne. Since then, events dedicated to the Day of Traditional Costume have been held in Kyiv, Rivne, Stryi, Radyvyliv, Kamianets and other cities in western and central Ukraine.
