commonly used in the so-called “noble” (shliakhta/szlachta) villages of Korosten district, Zhytomyr region,

Late 19th – early 20th century.

Restored by authentic samples from museum collections.

The outfit is made of factory fabrics.

The set includes: a scarf, a shirt, a kapotka, a skirt, an apron.

The shirt is made by ‘ustavka’ cut (with inserts). The lower part of the sleeves and the hem of the shirt are decorated with geometric ornaments woven by the bulk weaving (overlapping or picking weaving) on the loom.

The ‘ryasna’ (from ‘ryasy’) skirt is decorated with “merezhyvo” and densely gathered with “falbon” on the bottom. The apron is decorated with “merezhyvo” and several rows of “rubets” tucks. Demi-season topwear, “kapota”, is made of fitted cut with several extended wedges “faldy” on the back, decorated with “merezhyvo”. A shawl is made of factory fabric with a printed pattern.
